Downtown Arcadia will be the site of “A Salute to Zenyatta” on Nov. 2.
The Arcadia Night tribute to the famed “Queen of Racing” horse will include live music, food trucks, a beer garden, cocktails and the unveiling of a dedicated star on the Thoroughbred Racing Walk of Champions.
The celebration begins at 5 p.m. on First Avenue between Huntington Drive and Wheeler Avenue, with the unveiling of the Zenyatta plaque at 7 p.m. at the bandstand located at First and Wheeler.
The Downtown Arcadia Improvement Association is giving away two reserved grandstand tickets to the Breeders’ Cup classic on Nov. 4 and 5. Winner must be present, with the tickets handed out at 7:30 p.m. Enter to win the Breeders’ Cup tickets.
Festivities begin Wednesday, Nov. 2, near the Gold Line Plaza. The evening will include live music by Ghost in the Machine, the Sting cover band; signature dishes from some of Los Angeles’ most iconic food trucks — including Meat the Greek, Ragin Cajun, Slammin’ Sliders, the Greasy Wiener and Paradise Fine Cookies and Ice Cream — and a cash bar featuring refreshing cocktails provided by Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Maker’s Mark®.
The celebration will conclude with the honoring of legendary mare Zenyatta with a dedicated star on the Walk of Champions. Additionally, distribution of the 2016 limited-edition Maker’s Mark® Commemorative bottle featuring Zenyatta will take place during the event.
This year, all proceeds will go to Old Friends, an organization that provides dignified retirement to thoroughbreds whose racing and breeding careers have come to an end. This Arcadia Night is a free event and open to the public.
